  1. Thanks for sharing. What would you suggest for a 2 yr old with GERD on 30mg of prevacid. Her esophagus was not attached to her stomach at birth(EA/TEF) and was repaired at birth. Because it doesnt function properly, food sometimes goes back in her nose and she has lots of reflux. Sometimes she has long coughing spells while eating that sound like croup attacks and it is heartbreaking. I’m trying to turn to a different route to see if that could help. She’s taking Culturelle daily for constipation

  2. @worldys Also she has drinks thickened with Xantham Gum daily as she aspirates. I buy organic food and she doesnt have any fast food or processed food. she has a very balanced diet with very little meat as I am a vegetarian. What would you recommend, to you think Apple Cider Vinegar might help in her case?

@worldys That’s heartbreaking. Visiting a pediatric naturopathic doctor could be helpful.

Stomach acid is classified as a “strong acid.” It’s good at breaking down a lot of foods. It’s not good at breaking down waxy fats. A reflux cycle can be created by the body’s struggle to break down those waxy fats.

A “weak acid” is able to break down those foods that a “strong acid” cannot.

You’ve probably heard of natural remedies, like apple cider vinegar. That’s a weak acid.

My acid reflux was caused by a folic acid deficiency. I take a B complex suppliment – problem solved.

Excellent video, Dr. Kim. I especially liked the mention of organic foods as helpful and your explanation of why artificial drugs neutralize stomach acid and why this is bad.

  15. hello doctor..please please help me… I am 32 and suffers from GERD for almost 15 years..I’d really need your help please reply or send me a PM..thank you

  16. @MsRamona14 Dr. Kim’s website and contact info is in the video description.

  17. Then why do I have esophagitis if my reflux is caused by LOW stomach acid? That makes 0 sense…why do people get esophageal cancer if they have LOW stomach acid. I don’t think LOW stomach acid would have the ability to destroy a persons esophagus…that makes no sense.

  18. @KawaiyoKoji Yes, it makes sense. Low stomach acid means you are not digesting food properly, not destroying pathogens, and not causing the right communication between all openings. It gets all messed up when stomach acid is not doing its job. Google “low stomach acid gerd” and read up on it.

What are your thoughts on going cold turkey with prilosec after literally 8 years of daily use, and switching to these natural treatments? Do you think it would be best to start these natural remedies and then stop the prilosec, or would you just go for it and see how you feel?

  20. @Mix3dMartialArtz I’m the producer of the video. The best thing to do is to see a naturopathic doctor and get a full diagnosis and treatment plan. Once that is done, it is very likely you’ll no longer need meds.

  21. Mix3dMartialArtz

@LarryCook333 – oh ok thanks. ill look to see if there are any of those type of Dr’s in my area. Great video though, very helpful for someone like me.

  22. @Mix3dMartialArtz You’re welcome!

  23. So where could one find the natural remedies she suggested in the UK?

  24. What brand of probiotics/Digestive enzymes would you suggest?
